In an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentinian striker was uninhibited and believes that he rivals his Parisian counterpart but also Haaland, Lewandowski and Kane.

How do you judge the value of a striker? By his number of goals? By the work he does for his teammates? By his influence on the game? By his number of titles? No matter the answer, Lautaro Martinez ticks all the boxes.

Three consecutive seasons with more than 20 goals

With 24 goals this season in Serie A, not to mention his 6 assists, the Argentinian striker played a major role in Inter Milan winning the Italian championship title.

Crowned world champion in 2022 with the Albiceleste, he is going through a prosperous period and has just had his 3rd consecutive season with more than 20 goals in the league. A consistency that makes him say that he is among the best in his position. “Do I feel at the same level as Mbappé, Haaland, Lewandowski and Kane? Yes, I have nothing to envy them. The numbers and the trophies say it (…) I must continue to work responsibly as my father taught me but I can sit at the same table as all these greats,” he assured in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Under contract until 2026, Lautaro Martinez feels good in the Lombard city and does not seem ready to want to leave his Inter cocoon.

Before setting off to conquer the Champions League, the last major trophy missing from his list of achievements, the Bahia Blanca native will spend the beginning of his summer in the United States where he will help Argentina retain its Copa America title. A double that the Albiceleste has not achieved since 1991-1993.
