HIBAPRESS – Rabat

The National Authority for the Monitoring of Audiovisual and Artistic Production, a civil organization founded by a group of Moroccan activists two years ago, has launched an unprecedented initiative aimed at regulating the content creation sector in the Kingdom.

In a statement received by the HIBAPRESS newspaper, the Authority announced the "adoption and launch of the National Code of Ethics for Influencers and Content Creators in Morocco, as a national civil initiative aimed at regulating digital practice on ethical, professional, and responsible foundations, preserving freedom of expression and safeguarding the values of society."

The Authority stated that this code comes "in light of the rapid transformations experienced by the digital space and the real constraints it has produced related to the protection of minors, respect for the dignity of women, and combating fake news and hate speech, in addition to safeguarding national constants and the Moroccan cultural identity."

The Authority pointed out that the code emphasizes that "freedom is the principle, and responsibility is the guarantor of its continuation, and it relies on the voluntary commitment of influencers and content creators, without prejudice to the independence of creativity, while consolidating the rules of professionalism, integrity, and respect for the law."

The Authority explained in its statement that the code includes "general ethical principles that regulate digital content; clear provisions for protecting vulnerable groups, especially children; rules for advertising transparency and combating illegal promotion; mechanisms for joining, training, monitoring, and follow-up; an incentive system that awards the 'Responsible Content Creator' mark."

The National Authority for the Monitoring of Audiovisual and Artistic Production called on all influencers and content creators, media actors, and civil society organizations to engage consciously and responsibly in this national initiative, for the benefit of the Moroccan digital space, the image of the Kingdom, and the protection of future generations.

It is worth noting that this code consists of 11 chapters, namely "General Principles," "Protecting Society and Vulnerable Groups," "Transparency and Commercial Integrity," "Professional and Ethical Obligations," "Joining and Accreditation Mechanism," "Monitoring, Complaint, and Follow-up Mechanisms," "Disciplinary Penalties and Corrective Measures," "Incentives and Support," "Partnerships and Institutional Coordination," "Evaluation and Review Mechanisms," and "Transitional and Final Provisions."
