HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Today's oral question session of the House of Representatives witnessed a heated verbal clash between a number of deputies after they noted the absence of a group of ministers from the session dedicated to questioning them about files concerning citizens.
This absence caused tension inside the hall, where deputies from the opposition parties expressed clear dissatisfaction with the recurrence of the phenomenon, considering that it undermines the role of the legislative institution and the right of public opinion to follow up on the responses of the executive authority to urgent issues. The first remarks developed into a noisy debate after the intervention of some deputies sharply, demanding that the presidency take a tougher stance towards the absent ministers. The tone of the discussion rose among the parliamentarians themselves, as some saw that exaggerating the issue hinders the course of the session, while others considered that the matter affects the position of the Council and the principle of linking responsibility to accountability.
