HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Saad Eddine El Othmani, the former head of government, expressed his solidarity with his colleague in the Justice and Development Party, Abdelsamad Heikher, after what the latter was subjected to, a position that El Othmani described as "inappropriate" inside the House of Representatives following a sharp altercation with the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi.
El Othmani said in a post on social media: "For about 30 years, we have lived within the Parliament institution moments of tension or sharp disagreement, or strong discussion, or even a clash, and I have never seen from a minister this type of behavior that belittles and harms the entire legislative institution, nor have I ever seen such behavior in the relationship between the legislative and executive authorities." He added that "the moralization of political work and political practice, and adherence to the values of respect, is the cornerstone for emerging from the crisis that politics is experiencing in Morocco, and everything that violates this, from any party, is rejected and increases the gap between citizens and political elites."
