The main auditorium of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences in Settat hosted the first edition of the international conference on the issue of artificial intelligence in its relationship with law and legal and judicial professions, within an important scientific station that combined technical, legal, and ethical approaches, in order to develop a common vision on the ways to integrate artificial intelligence in the justice sector, and develop professional practices in line with global technological developments.
For two full days, the city of Settat was on a date with an international academic scientific event that attracted experts and academics from inside and outside Morocco, to deconstruct the deep transformations witnessed by the justice sector in light of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, and to anticipate ways to employ modern technology to upgrade legal and judicial professions, and improve the efficiency of services and the production of legal knowledge.
The international conference, organized by Hassan I University and the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences in Settat, in partnership with the Research Laboratory on Comparative Democratic Transition and the Research and Applications Laboratory in Artificial Intelligence, was an opportunity for researchers and academics to meet at the discussion table on how to employ artificial intelligence in a way that keeps pace with the transformations, and at the same time ensures the strengthening of legal security.
The conference, organized under the slogan "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Legal and Judicial Professions", is divided into five main axes that concern the legislative and regulatory framework for artificial intelligence, and the prospects for its integration into legal and judicial professions, in addition to the bets of human rights and digital ethics, public policies and crisis management, as well as presenting comparative experiences on employing smart systems in scientific research and managing judicial cases.
Abdel Jabbar Arrach, director of the Research Laboratory on Comparative Democratic Transition, confirmed that the conference brings together researchers and experts in the fields of law and artificial intelligence, which allows a multidisciplinary approach that aims to research the possibilities, bets, and opportunities offered by this cognitive intersection, while highlighting the constraints associated with it and anticipating ways of cooperation that contribute to the development of the justice system, adding that this international symposium focuses on a topical issue, discussing the dialectical relationship between artificial intelligence and law, especially with regard to the prospects for the development of legal and judicial professions.
Dr. Said Rahou, a member of the organizing committee of the conference, stressed the importance of this scientific event, which was able to attract more than fifty researchers, professionals, and experts to discuss the reality and challenges of artificial intelligence in its relationship with the world of law, and its future effects on judicial professions.
For his part, Jawad Dabounou, representative of the Research and Applications Laboratory in Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Science and Technology in Settat, said that the approach to artificial intelligence is no longer purely technical or purely legal, but rather requires a synthetic vision capable of confronting the complexities of this field, stressing that keeping pace with this development requires an inter-opening between the academic and legal institutions, with the aim of overcoming multidisciplinary problems and developing joint solutions that enhance the responsible and effective use of technology.
