The night of December 5th will remain etched in the memory of martial arts, after the Moroccan fighter Osama Assali succeeded in seizing the golden belt and being crowned world champion in the 77 kg – Welterweight category within the strongest and most fierce martial arts organizations in the world.
Assali faced the two-time world champion James "Sweet as Honey" from Australia in a terrifying fight that extended for five full rounds, in which the two fighters presented a real war inside the arena, but the ferocity, fighting intelligence, and iron fitness of Osama were the difference that made history. This achievement came after a fiery path, as Assali reached this historic match after four consecutive victories over international fighters from Russia, the United States, Spain and other countries, proving himself as a rising global force in the Welterweight division. With the lifting of the golden belt, his professional record became 21-2, maintaining his perfect record within the organization 5-0 without any defeat, becoming the first Moroccan to win this title and placing the name of Morocco on the highest global platform within a sport known as the "arena of the real champions." After the crowning, Osama Assali said: "I dedicate this victory to His Majesty Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, and to all Moroccans from Tangier to Laâyoune. I am proud to represent my country, and to raise the flag of Morocco in the strongest martial arts organizations in the world." With this victory, Osama Assali writes a new chapter in the history of Moroccan combat sports, and proves that the Moroccan fighter is able to reach the top… and that gold only shines on those who deserve it.
