HIBAPRESS announced the official completion of the Sidi Maarouf interchange works, which is the first intersection in the Kingdom to integrate multiple designs on three levels, in an unprecedented engineering achievement implemented with purely Moroccan competencies and ahead of schedule.
The company clarified, in a press release issued today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, that this major structural project cost an investment of approximately 500 million dirhams, and will contribute significantly to enhancing road safety and improving the flow of traffic, whether locally or across the economic capital, Greater Casablanca. Sidi Maarouf interchange is considered a strategic exchange point at the southern entrance to the city of Casablanca, where it connects the Casablanca ring road and the Casablanca-Berrechid highway, and also ensures the link between the cities of Casablanca, Mohammedia, Berrechid and El Jadida, which constitute vital economic poles in the Casablanca-Settat region. The intersection is distinguished by an innovative engineering design, following its comprehensive rehabilitation to become a three-level intersection, combining the "Trefoil" and "Turbine" designs, in a step aimed at keeping pace with the increasing volume of traffic. This design has enabled the elimination of dangerous intersection points and enhanced the absorption capacity of the intersection, thereby raising safety and flow levels. The works included the completion of eight technical facilities in the form of overhead and underground passages, in addition to the expansion of both the Casablanca ring road and the Casablanca-Berrechid highway to five lanes in each direction at the intersection level, as well as the creation of new entrances that allow a direct link between Mohammedia and Casablanca, Casablanca and El Jadida, Berrechid and Mohammedia, and El Jadida and Berrechid. This project was funded by the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the National Company for Motorways in Morocco, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council. To enhance safety conditions, the Sidi Maarouf interchange was equipped, for the first time on the national motorway network, with an innovative lighting system that contributes to improving night vision, in addition to its aesthetic dimension. A modern protection system has also been adopted that meets the latest international standards in terms of rigidity, performance and ease of maintenance, with the aim of protecting road users in cases of lateral deviation from the path. This project is expected to constitute a qualitative leap in the field of road infrastructure in Morocco, and to contribute to improving the quality of mobility and supporting the economic dynamism of the region.
