HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Abdellatif El Jaouhari, the Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib, said that international indicators indicate that the global economy is likely to continue its slowdown in the coming period, in light of the continued pressures related to geopolitical tensions and the tightening of financial conditions at the international level.
El Jaouhari explained that these factors limit the pace of recovery and directly affect the dynamics of growth in a number of major economies. During a press conference in Rabat, dedicated to presenting monetary policy decisions, El Jaouhari pointed out that the anticipated improvement in the performance of the global economy will not be imminent, expecting it to remain limited until more favorable conditions are available, whether at the level of a decline in inflation rates or the easing of restrictive monetary policies adopted by major central banks. The Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib confirmed that these external data remain an essential element in assessing the national economic situation, stressing the need to take into account developments in the global economy when formulating monetary policy decisions, in order to ensure the preservation of macroeconomic balances and support financial stability.
