The Regional Directorate of Education in Settat topped the educational institutions in the Casablanca-Settat region that obtained green flags for ecological schools, after its distinction in a regional ceremony hosted by the "Mohammed Belhassan Al-Wazzani" school in the Al-Hurriya district, Sidi Moumen, Sidi Bernoussi Directorate, last Thursday.
The ceremony, which was attended by the director of the academy, a representative of the relevant ministry, officials from the territorial authority, and many heads of educational institutions and coordinators of environmental clubs, was an opportunity to commend the efforts made by the educational institutions that achieved honorable results in terms of activating the ecological schools program.
The Regional Directorate of Education obtained 11 green flags, which were awarded to M.M. Al-Arabi Batma, M.M. Bani Yakhlef, M, M. Al-Dashra, M.M. Al-Nasiriya, M.M. Awlad Nasser, M.M. Awlad Salem, M.M. Al-Abrar Private, M.M. Al-Atousha, M.M. Awlad Shabana, M.M. Bir Al-Safa, and M.M. Awlad Hammu.
In addition to other institutions that received the silver and bronze badges, including M.M. Al-Shawiya Private, Sidi Abdelkrim School, Ibn Bassam School, Moulay Abdullah School, and Wadi Al-Makhazen School, M.M. Bouatrous, M.M. Lahlaf, and M.M. Al-Skamna.
The regional coordinator of environmental clubs in Settat, "Abdul Ilah Mansafi," expressed his happiness at the crowning of many educational institutions in Settat with green flags, which is the result of serious and responsible involvement by all components, including educational administration, educational staff, and various partners, all of whom contributed to achieving a direct positive impact on the behaviors of the school community in general, and on the daily behavior of students in particular, in the field of consolidating environmental awareness, by raising the awareness of students about environmental challenges.
Mansafi added that the winning educational institutions are known for their giving, seriousness, and responsibility, not only at the environmental level, but also at the level of educational performance and openness to the external environment, due to the strength and harmony of its educational and administrative team and the involvement of its external environment, which made them public institutions in the rural and urban world that enjoy the trust of everyone.
The head of the Educational Affairs Department in Settat, "Somaya Al-Riyahi," praised the full support provided by the Regional Academy for Education and Training in the Casablanca-Settat region, as well as the Regional Directorate of Education in Settat with its various departments, for the educational system in all its components, in order to achieve the goals of public schools and make them an attractive space befitting its users, praising the pivotal role of educational staff in the institution and their responsible involvement in guiding and accompanying students to implement environmental, sports, cultural, artistic, and educational projects, as well as the role of parents' associations and the social, political and local authorities in their continuous support and their constant presence side by side with the administration of the institution.
Al-Riyahi added that the organization of this ceremony comes within the framework of crowning the winning educational institutions in the ecological schools program of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, which is chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasna, which was organized by the Regional Academy for Education and Training in coordination with the Sidi Bernoussi Regional Directorate, in recognition of the success achieved by these winning educational institutions in the project of education for sustainable development, encouraging them to continue improving the environmental situation, and involving all components of the school and the concerned actors.
Interested parties and actors in the educational field believe that crowning these educational institutions with green flags alone is not enough to make this ambitious environmental project succeed, but it must be strengthened by granting these institutions the power to develop and enhance their environmental clubs with financial and logistical support, calling for the honoring of the coordinators of environmental clubs in educational institutions from men and women of education who deserve credit for the success of this ambitious program with at least appreciation certificates to encourage them to move forward towards achieving the best.
