HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
Amidst harsh climatic conditions marked by heavy rainfall and thick snow, maintenance teams from the Regional Multi-Service Company of Fez-Meknes (SRM-FM), under the Taza Provincial Directorate, began emergency field interventions on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, to repair damage to the electrical grid in the Taza highlands, belonging to the Wadi Amlil district.
The area witnessed heavy snowfall from the early hours of the morning, leading to significant difficulty in accessing the rugged mountain paths and causing serious damage to medium-voltage lines, resulting in a power outage in a number of isolated homes and villages. Despite the harsh weather conditions and the closure of some roads and paths, the company's technicians continued their efforts to reach the affected points, using special mechanisms and equipment, in a race against time to break the electrical isolation of the population who found themselves in darkness, at a time when the need for heating is increasing due to the sharp drop in temperatures. These emergency interventions come after the Provincial Directorate had previously been forced to suspend some scheduled maintenance operations due to bad weather, before the priority today shifted to restoring electricity and ensuring the continuity of supply of this vital material. Sources on the ground confirmed that the intervention teams are working in dangerous conditions to repair the damaged lines and restore electrical connections, in a field operation that reflects a sense of responsibility and professional commitment, despite the natural and logistical challenges. For their part, a number of residents of the affected villages in the Wadi Amlil district expressed their great gratitude and happiness at the speed of the company's teams' intervention, whom they described as "hidden soldiers", for their sacrifices and dedication in reaching the high mountains in the middle of the snow, and restoring light to their homes in one of the most difficult climatic periods the region has known.
