Youssef En-Nesyri is approaching entering Moroccan football history through its widest doors, having come within one goal of equaling the record of the late Ahmed Faras as the best Moroccan scorer in the history of the African Cup of Nations finals, with a total of 6 goals.
En-Nesyri has so far scored 5 goals in his previous participations in the CAN, distributed over several editions, which makes him a strong candidate to top the list of historical scorers for Morocco in the continental competition, especially with the launch of a new edition on Moroccan soil. His achievement does not stop at the African Cup only, as he is one goal away from equaling Hakim Ziyech's record (26 international goals), to become the top scorer of the current generation and the third-best scorer in the history of the Moroccan national team.
