HIBAPRESS – Ait Melloul
In response to what has been circulated on some social media sites regarding the health condition of the prisoner (I.I.), detained in the Ait Melloul 2 local prison on the background of the Kadim Izik events file, the prison administration issued an explanatory statement through which it presented accurate data to enlighten public opinion and refute what it described as incorrect claims.
The statement clarified that the prisoner in question benefited from the necessary medical care, contrary to what is being promoted about "not receiving treatment despite suffering from pain in the ears." In this context, the prison administration confirmed that the prisoner was taken to the regional hospital in Inezgane on December 15, 2025, based on a pre-arranged medical appointment, where he underwent medical examinations with a specialist doctor in ear, nose, and throat diseases. The same source added that, as part of monitoring his health condition, the prisoner was referred to the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Agadir for continued medical observation, with a subsequent medical appointment to be determined in accordance with the procedures in force. The statement also indicated that the prisoner had previously benefited from drug treatment that enabled him to avoid undergoing surgery, which, according to the administration, reflects the effectiveness of the medical follow-up he is undergoing. The administration of the Ait Melloul 2 local prison stressed that the prisoner's health condition is normal and stable, considering that everything being circulated to the contrary falls within the framework of "misrepresentations and lies" promoted by entities hostile to the Kingdom, with the aim of misleading public opinion. In the context of reinforcing these clarifications, the statement revealed that the prisoner in question recently passed a written exam to access one of the master's programs at the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, which the administration considered additional proof of the stability of his health and his ability to engage in intellectual and academic activities normally. The prison administration concluded its statement by emphasizing its constant keenness to provide the necessary health care for all prisoners, in accordance with the law and the approved standards, while reserving its right to respond to anything that would prejudice the reputation of the institution or publish inaccurate data to the public.
