Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, explained that his change of Imam Ashour during the first half of the match between Egypt and Zimbabwe in the opening of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage was a purely technical decision.
Hossam Hassan confirmed that the player was suffering from physical and health pressures due to his previous infection with the virus, highlighting that he still trusts Imam Ashour, but preferred to ease the pressure on him to protect the interests of the team and the player together, stressing that the change came at the right time and contributed to achieving victory and the top of the second group with three points. It is worth noting that the Egyptian national team started its journey in the Africa Cup of Nations with a difficult victory over Zimbabwe with two goals to one, after it was behind in the score with a goal without a response before turning the table in the second round.
