In a scene that embodies the highest degrees of vigilance and responsibility, the competent authorities of the Midelt province worked tirelessly to confront the harshness of nature in the depths of the Eastern High Atlas, where the altitude exceeds 2000 meters, in order to break the isolation and ensure the safety of citizens, following heavy snowfall and rockslides that the region experienced.
In this context, the work of opening regional road number 7320, linking the two villages of Anfkou and Targhist, at the level of the Anemzi commune, Toufite district, Midelt province, continued throughout the night hours of last Tuesday, after it was submerged by snow and exposed to dangerous rockslides due to the fall of large stones, which posed a direct threat to traffic and the safety of road users.
In a telephone call with HIBAPRESS newspaper, the community activist Ouserghine in the Midelt province said that this field intervention reflects a high level of readiness and prior preparation of the various concerned interests, stressing that the speed of intervention, despite the harshness of the weather and the difficulty of the terrain, was a source of great comfort to the residents of the region. He added that such operations enhance confidence in institutions, and confirm that the right of the mountain residents to safe movement is now given the necessary priority.
Despite the cold weather and the difficulty of the night intervention, the road opening operations continued until five o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, in a real race against time, to reopen this vital artery that connects a number of mountain villages, and ensures their supply with basic services.
This qualitative intervention received wide praise and great appreciation from the citizens, who expressed their satisfaction with the speed of response and the effectiveness of the intervention, especially since the collective memory of the mountain population still recalls previous periods in which roads were cut off for long months with every snowfall, and isolation was imposed as a harsh reality that was inevitable.
This field work represents a renewed message of hope for the population of the mountainous regions, stating that the logic of proactive intervention and field vigilance has become a fixed option, and that confronting natural challenges no longer means surrendering to isolation, but rather dealing with them effectively and responsibly.
