HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
This week, the vicinity of the main slaughterhouse in the Moulay Rachid district of Casablanca witnessed a serious incident after a simple dispute over a one-dirham increase in the wholesale price of meat turned into a bloody battle between butchers, resulting in serious injuries to one of them.
According to available data, the incident broke out when a butcher who was purchasing meat wholesale discovered that the seller had added one dirham to the agreed-upon price, which led to a heated discussion between the two parties that quickly escalated into a violent altercation. The same sources added that the selling butcher sought help from his companions, where the victim was assaulted and beaten before being stabbed with a knife in the thigh and another injury to the head.
The seriousness of the injuries necessitated the victim's rapid transfer to Ibn Rochd Hospital in Casablanca, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit and remains there to this day.
Upon being notified of the incident, the competent security services moved to the scene, where they began investigation procedures under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, which gave instructions to deepen the investigation of those suspected of being involved in this incident, pending their presentation before the judiciary to take the necessary action against them.
This incident sparked a state of resentment among the professionals and users of the slaughterhouse, and it also brought back to the forefront the risks of simple disputes turning into serious acts of violence that threaten the safety of people within professional spaces.
