The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that it is expected to record locally strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusts of wind, snowfall and cold weather, from today, Friday, to next Sunday, in a number of regions of the Kingdom.
The directorate clarified, in an orange alert bulletin, that it is expected to record locally strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusts of wind (from 15 to 25 mm), in the provinces of Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Sale, Rabat, El Jadida and Essaouira, today, Friday, from eleven in the morning until eleven at night.
It is also expected to record the same phenomenon with measurements ranging between 55 and 75 mm, in Safi, Essaouira, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mediouna, Nouaceur, Agadir Ida Outanane, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inezgane, Ait Melloul, and Taroudant, and between 35 and 55 mm in each of Kalaat Es-Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakesh, Settat, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Tiznit, Khénifra, Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Mohammedia, Khouribga, and Ben Slimane, from midnight Saturday to ten in the morning on Sunday.
The bulletin added that snowfall is also expected, starting from elevations of 1500 meters, with a thickness ranging between 20 and 40 cm in each of Azilal, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Ifrane, Al Haouz and Tinghir, and between 10 and 15 cm in each of Boulemane, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, and Beni Mellal, on Saturday and Sunday.
Strong gusts of wind (from 75 to 85 km/h) are also expected in the provinces of Safi, Chichaoua, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira and El Jadida, tomorrow, Saturday, from one in the morning until noon.
The Directorate recorded, in the same bulletin, that the weather will be cold (between minus 3 and minus 7 degrees) in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Tinghir, Azilal, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Ifrane, starting from today, Friday, until next Sunday.
