Today, Monday in Rabat, a partnership agreement was signed regarding the inclusion of the ministerial delegation in charge of human rights in the national portal for the right to information, which the Right to Information Committee oversees its management.

This agreement, signed by the Ministerial Delegate in charge of Human Rights, Mohamed El Habib Belkouch, and the President of the Right to Information Committee, Omar Seghrouchni, falls within the framework of implementing the committee's tasks of ensuring the proper guarantee of the exercise of this right, and raising awareness of the importance of providing information and facilitating access to it by available methods and means.

In a speech on this occasion, El Habib Belkouch affirmed that this agreement aims in particular to keep pace with the dynamics of enabling citizens to obtain information, reminding that this matter falls within the delegation's work strategy of placing the available information at the disposal of government and non-governmental sectors concerned with human rights.

He added that this agreement also embodies the Kingdom's commitments and highlights the efforts made at the level of public policies in the field of human rights, stressing that “access to information is part of vigilance, follow-up, and engagement in implementing the Kingdom's commitments and consolidating them at the level of public policies.”

For his part, Seghrouchni highlighted that this agreement, which aims to bring together all institutions concerned with Article 2 of Law No. 31.13 related to the right to information, primarily aims to “work within a platform with a unified vision regarding the right to obtain information.”

The President of the Right to Information Committee confirmed that this platform “will enable us to collect statistics at the national level and interact better with citizens' requests.”

It is worth noting that the National Portal for the Right to Information is a digital platform that enables citizens and also foreigners legally residing in Morocco to submit and follow up on requests for information and related complaints, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 31.13.

It also enables the provision of accurate data and indicators for the benefit of the institution or the concerned body, thus allowing the development of the quality of services and the enhancement of the effectiveness of the right to information system.
