The Moroccan national team's qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 has garnered widespread attention and praise from Belgian media, following the Atlas Lions' resounding victory over the Zambian team with three goals to nil.
The Belgian French-speaking radio and television (RTBF) described this victory as a "benchmark win," noting that Morocco "defeated Zambia and reached the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16."
RTBF confirmed that the host country, despite the pressure, "did not falter for a single second" on Monday evening, and succeeded in deciding the match with a large result, enabling it to top its group and enter the knockout stages "with greater reassurance."
For its part, the sports website "Sporza" highlighted the collective and offensive performance of the Moroccan national team, which overcame its opponent thanks to a double by Ayoub El Kaabi and a goal by Brahim Diaz. The Dutch-speaking media outlet considered that the Moroccans "convinced and impressed" during this last round, confirming without discussion their leadership of the first group.
In turn, the Francophone sports daily "DH Les Sports" pointed out that Morocco "qualified without hesitation against Zambia," reminding that the most prominent candidate for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title did not miss the appointment, and succeeded, under the pressure of its fans, in imposing its superiority and snatching the ticket to the round of 16.
In the same vein, the daily "Le Soir" pointed to the expected reaction of the Atlas Lions after the draw against Mali, noting that the match was decided from the first half, with two goals scored in less than thirty minutes.
For his part, the website "Football News" mentioned that eyes were directed, on Monday evening, to Morocco, the host country and the most prominent candidate to win the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, highlighting the resounding victory against Zambia, which was characterized, in particular, by Ayoub El Kaabi's double, the scorer of an "exceptional goal" with a stunning scissor kick.
The "Walfoot" website considered that the Moroccan national team succeeded in overcoming its stumble against Mali, achieving seven points out of nine during the group stage, to finish the competitions at the top of its group with a comfortable difference, which confirms, according to the Belgian website, the position of the Atlas Lions as one of the most prominent candidates to win the title of this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
