Former US President Donald Trump was rushed from a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday with blood on his ear after gunshots rang out, injuring others in the audience and the suspected gunman was shot dead.
“The shooter is dead and two other rally participants were also injured,” a law enforcement source told Fox News.
Police say the incident is being investigated as a suspected attempted murder.
Mr. Trump threw himself to the ground and was immediately surrounded by Secret Service agents, who escorted him to a motorcade.
Immediately after his evacuation, the Secret Service claimed that the former head of the American executive was “safe”.
A spokesperson for Mr Trump’s campaign, quoted by the media, reassured about the state of health of the ex-president who is “being examined in a medical facility” on site, while condemning a “heinous act”.
Reacting to the incident, US President Joe Biden said he was “relieved” to learn that Donald Trump was “safe and well”. “There is no place for this kind of violence in America,” he insisted.
In a statement, Donald Trump’s son said he had just spoken to his father on the phone and reassured him that he was in “high spirits.”
