HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Mohammed Abdelnabaoui, the Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority, revealed, on the occasion of the opening of the new judicial year, that the Kingdom's courts have issued, since the implementation of the alternative penalties law on September 8th, until the end of 2025, a total of 1001 rulings within the framework of this law.
Abdelnabaoui explained that these rulings affected 1077 people, indicating that the application of alternative penalties reflects the new direction of the judicial system towards an approach aimed at reform and reintegration, instead of just focusing on custodial sentences. The Deputy President affirmed that these initial results show the courts' commitment to activating the provisions of the law, adding that alternative penalties contribute to alleviating overcrowding inside prisons and promoting restorative justice and protecting society from deviation.
