Spanish judicial authorities have ruled to deport a Moroccan migrant from Spanish territory for seven years, following his involvement in threatening worshippers inside a church in Almeria with a knife, in an incident that caused a state of panic among those present.
According to judicial sources, the person in question, named Abd al-Nasser (K), entered the San Roque church and threatened the worshippers with a large knife, which prompted the church officials to evacuate it immediately for fear of acts of violence or injuries among those present. The sources added that the court sentenced him to a prison sentence of two and a half years, but this sentence was replaced by a decision to expel him from Spanish territory and prevent him from returning for seven years, in accordance with the legal procedures in such cases. The incident received widespread condemnation, while the authorities confirmed their keenness to ensure the security of places of worship and protect citizens from any threat to public safety.
