HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Boudhane

On Thursday, January 15th, a medical caravan was organized, including a number of diverse health services in the village of Bani Makbel, in the commune of Barkin, in the province of Guercif, benefiting 637 people. This was within the framework of efforts to enhance rural health and bring medical services closer to the population of remote areas.

This caravan was organized on the initiative of the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Guercif, in partnership with the Regional Committee for Human Development, the Dar Al-Saha Association for employees of the regional hospital, and the Moroccan Red Crescent – Guercif branch, in a model that reflects the integration between institutional and civil efforts. The services provided included general medical consultations, obstetrics and gynecology, ultrasound examinations, early detection of breast cancer, vision measurement and correction, as well as measurement of blood pressure and blood sugar levels, laboratory tests, in addition to the distribution of eyeglasses and necessary medications for free. The caravan recorded the benefit of 74 women and children under the age of five, including 7 pregnant women and 7 breastfeeding mothers, within the framework of the "Care" program for the health of mothers and children, in addition to organizing awareness campaigns on breastfeeding, healthy nutrition, and health hygiene, with a focus on the first thousand days of a child's life, considering it a critical stage for healthy and proper growth.

Significant human resources were mobilized to ensure the success of the initiative, including six doctors, a specialist in vision measurement and correction, and twenty-four nurses, in addition to assistants, which enabled the provision of medical services in an organized and effective manner. This caravan comes in the context of ongoing efforts to fill the deficit recorded in the health offer in the region, and to mitigate the effects of cold waves on vulnerable groups, reflecting the keenness to promote the right to health in the rural area and support local human capital.
