Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in the center of Oulad Hassoun, near Marrakech, succeeded in arresting a person wanted nationally on suspicion of involvement in the trafficking of alcohol and drugs.
According to informed sources, the operation took place after a tight security intervention that enabled the monitoring of the suspect's movements and his arrest before subjecting him to preliminary investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office. After deepening the investigation and listening to the detainee, the gendarmerie elements were able to identify the identity of his main supplier, who was also arrested in a separate operation at the level of the Douar Al-Amamra, the Borous commune. The search operation that followed the arrest led to the discovery of a secret factory specializing in the distillation of liquor "Water of Life", where large quantities of materials and tools used in the preparation were seized. The operation resulted in the seizure of a total of 18 tons of the liquor "Water of Life", as well as 30 tons of dried figs known locally as "Al-Shariha", in addition to equipment and utensils used in the distillation process. The detainees have been placed under custody pending the completion of the investigation and their presentation to the judiciary to reveal the remaining possible extensions of this network.
