The General Directorate of National Security has reviewed digital content published by Senegalese websites and accounts, claiming that a Senegalese citizen was physically assaulted with a sharp weapon in Morocco, following the African Cup of Nations final match. This, according to the claims, resulted in his death.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security stated that, in response to these publications, the National Security services conducted in-depth investigations that revealed no record of any intentional murder or assault leading to death of a Senegalese citizen, using the criminal method mentioned in the published content. In contrast, the National Security services confirm that the only registered incident is the discovery of the body of an unidentified person from sub-Saharan countries in Salé, smelling of alcohol and not bearing any obvious signs of violence or resistance, except for minor bite marks that the completed inspections linked to the presence of some stray dogs at the place where the body was discovered. The statement added that the competent security services have initiated a judicial investigation into the case under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, with the aim of identifying the deceased. His fingerprints were taken, which showed that they did not match any fingerprints in the nominal databases at the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police, emphasizing that coordination is currently underway with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), and with the Senegalese security authorities, in order to conduct the necessary fingerprint matching to identify the deceased. To deepen the investigation, the security services began investigations into the identity of the person who appeared in the identity documents published by the Senegalese accounts, which presented him as the alleged victim of the supposed crime, and who bears some resemblance to the discovered body, as it turned out that he is indeed a Senegalese citizen who has a residence permit in Morocco, but field trips showed that he does not reside in the address provided, which necessitated conducting further field investigations supported by technical expertise in order to identify the person in question. The statement concluded that the National Security services, while denying the registration of any intentional murder or assault leading to death, as indicated by the published posts and articles, confirm that the only recorded incident is the discovery of a body smelling of alcohol, with no identity documents, and showing no signs of violence or stabbing, and that this incident is currently the subject of judicial investigations to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances of his death, with the emphasis that the discovered body has been placed under medical examination at the hospital to determine the real cause of death.
