The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, stressed, Wednesday in Rabat, the importance of regularly updating digital training programs to best meet the demands of the labor market.
In a press statement following the meeting of the Joint Steering Committee between the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, for the follow-up of the agreement for the implementation of the program to strengthen the number of digital enrollees and graduates in Moroccan public universities, Mr. Miraoui explained that this update is necessary to meet the requirements of the labor market, given the significant changes in the digital field.
“The government, aware of the major priorities that His Majesty King Mohammed VI gives to youth and human capital, places particular emphasis on digitalization,” he said, noting that this meeting is an opportunity to discuss this major program dedicated to digitalization and training in the digital fields.
This meeting is also an opportunity to take stock of the achievements made since the previous academic year and prepare for the next academic year, particularly in terms of programs, said Mr. Miraoui.
For her part, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour, noted that this meeting follows the agreement, signed last November, the objective of which is to train a large number of young Moroccans in the field of digitalization within twelve Moroccan public universities.
“This project is the result of a study aimed at understanding and analyzing the needs of the labor market, in order to adapt training accordingly and to plan the necessary means to increase staff numbers,” she said.
“The number of registrations has doubled compared to the previous year, which has made it possible to double the number of young people continuing their studies in Moroccan universities in the field of digitalization,” she said, adding that today’s meeting aims to prepare the next academic year successfully.
It should be recalled that this agreement aims to design and implement new university training programs in the digital field, adapted to the needs of the job market and the expectations of national and foreign investors, at the level of twelve Moroccan public universities.
It also aims to increase the number of graduates, while developing and strengthening their skills in order to accelerate the dynamics of the digital transition, support the diversification of the national economy and contribute to making Morocco a preferred destination for investors in the fields of digital and information technologies.
