Spain witnessed, on Wednesday, widespread disruptions due to the powerful storm "Christine" which hit several regions of the country, causing heavy snowfall and strong winds that reached speeds of more than 150 kilometers per hour in some areas.
The harsh weather conditions led to a near-total paralysis of traffic, with many main roads and railway lines disrupted, affecting the movement of citizens and goods. Local authorities were also forced to suspend studies in dozens of municipalities as a precautionary measure to protect the safety of students and educational staff.
In the same context, the storm caused widespread power outages, leaving thousands of homes without electricity for hours, amid intensive efforts by emergency teams to restore the situation to normal and reduce the extent of the losses.
