HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Rachid Talibi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed Morocco's thanks and gratitude to France, in all its official and political components, for its clear and supportive stance on the Moroccan Sahara, considering that this position reflects a deep understanding of the justice of the national cause, and in harmony with the logic of international legitimacy and the path of a realistic political solution under the supervision of the United Nations.
Talibi Alami's statement came during the work of the fifth session of the Moroccan-French Parliamentary Forum, which is hosted by the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat on January 29 and 30, 2026, with the participation of leading parliamentary figures from both countries, within the framework of enhancing political dialogue and legislative cooperation between the Moroccan and French parliamentary institutions. The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed that the French stance supporting the Moroccan Sahara constitutes a fundamental building block in consolidating mutual trust between Rabat and Paris, and reflects the depth of the strategic partnership that brings the two countries together, stressing that the Sahara issue remains for Moroccans a unifying national cause that is not subject to bidding or interpretation. The speaker pointed out that parliamentary diplomacy plays a pivotal role in keeping pace with this positive momentum, by unifying visions and strengthening coordination between parliamentarians on issues of common interest, in a way that serves regional stability and strengthens Moroccan-French relations on clear and solid foundations.
