HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, affirmed that France's vision for the present and the future is based on considering the Moroccan Sahara as a clear choice and a strategic horizon, consistent with the logic of stability and development in the region, and with a realistic political approach that puts at its core respect for the sovereignty of states and their territorial integrity.
Larcher's statement came during the fifth session of the Moroccan-French Parliamentary Forum, organized by the Moroccan Parliament in the capital Rabat on January 29 and 30, 2026, with the significant presence of leaders from the legislative institutions in both countries, within the framework of strengthening parliamentary dialogue and consolidating the strategic partnership between Rabat and Paris. The President of the French Senate stressed that his country's position on the Sahara issue reflects a firm trend towards supporting serious and realistic political solutions, stressing that Morocco is a reliable partner for France in matters of peace, stability and development, both regionally and internationally. Larcher considered that the Moroccan-French Parliamentary Forum constitutes a basic institutional platform for translating this convergence of visions into tangible cooperation, through strengthening coordination between parliamentarians and exchanging experiences, in a way that serves common interests and establishes a clearer and more solid future in relations between the two countries.
