The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, expressed today in Brussels the European Union's will to strengthen the partnership with Morocco in the face of common regional and international challenges.
This came in a press statement made by the Vice-President of the European Commission before the start of the fifteenth session of the European Union-Morocco Partnership Council. Kallas affirmed that this meeting aims primarily to "do more joint work", highlighting, in particular, cooperation in the fields of migration and security, as well as the important role played by Morocco within the United Nations Human Rights Council. The head of European diplomacy explained that the discussions will address a number of international issues, particularly the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East and the Sahel region. In this regard, she stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation at the international level, highlighting "Morocco's unique experience in combating terrorism and extremism". She considered that Gaza constitutes a "priority", expressing her thanks to Morocco for hosting the Global Coalition meeting, which she described as "the strongest international forum" supporting the two-state solution. She also announced that the European Union has adopted a new common position on the Moroccan Sahara issue, following the Security Council resolution. Kallas concluded by saying that "Morocco is already an important partner for the European Union. After 30 years of the partnership agreement, it is time to do more together."
