Twenty trainees benefited from the expertise of Moroccan and French specialists, as well as representatives of the French School of Speleology, as part of an intensive caving training program at Tazekka National Park. This course, organized from July 6 to 12, 2024, by the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), allowed participants to acquire advanced caving techniques and develop an in-depth understanding of underground environments and safe guiding practices. The local guides showed remarkable commitment and enthusiasm, enriching and strengthening their skills. This initiative highlights the crucial role of caving in promoting tourism, particularly in Tazekka National Park, which is rich in exceptional underground cavities. It also highlights the importance of local guides in raising awareness of the preservation of natural spaces.
Through this support, ANEF and its partners demonstrate their commitment to promoting responsible and environmentally friendly tourism, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
The Green Jobs II project (2023-2025), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to the tune of 5.5 million euros, supports the Morocco Forests Strategy 2020-2030. This project aims to economically enhance forest resources and promote socio-economic development. Its implementation is ensured by GIZ and intervenes in four forest regions rich in exceptional natural and cultural resources: Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes, Beni-Mellal-Khenifra, and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra. In terms of quantitative objectives, the project aims to create 2,000 jobs, with a representation of 30% women and 40% young people. It also plans to increase the income of 2,000 users by 20% and the turnover of 30 cooperatives by 20%. In addition, 2,250 members of the cooperatives will adopt environmentally friendly practices in their economic activities, which are linked to the development of forest resources and natural spaces.
