HIBAPRESS
Naïma Lahrori, elected representative for the province of Figuig and former vice president of the Oriental Region Council, announced her resignation from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party, following a political experience that began in 2021. She stated that she undertook this experience with faith and commitment, emphasizing that the decision to leave the party came after what she described as successive disappointments, particularly regarding the issue of women's representation within the party.
In a post announcing her decision, Lahrori recalled her electoral journey in the province of Figuig, noting that she ran for the Oriental Region Council elections on a direct list, obtaining nearly 13,000 votes, before assuming the responsibility of vice president of the Oriental Region Council. She asserted that her goal in political work was to defend the interests of the Figuig province, which she described as a distant and marginalized region, and to strive to enhance its presence in development discussions and defend its residents' right to fairness.
She also touched upon her dismissal from the position of vice president of the Oriental Region Council, considering the position not as a personal privilege, but as a means to serve the province's residents and convey their voice. She also pointed to a dispute that previously led her to resort to legal action regarding the party's extraordinary congress, explaining that this phase ended with reconciliation and opening a new chapter, which she said she approached with sincerity and a desire to overcome differences.
Lahrori clarified that her experience within the party, especially what she went through regarding the issue of women's representation, caused her to lose a significant part of her previous conviction. She criticized what she described as a method that makes a man impose a specific woman within the party, considering that women's representation should be based on competence, merit, and free choice, away from guardianship.
She affirmed that the decision to resign was not aimed at attacking any party or harming anyone, but rather, according to her words, came after continuing became more painful than leaving. She apologized to those who placed their trust in her, especially the people of the Figuig province, assuring them that she will continue to defend the province's issues, despite leaving the party.
Lahrori concluded her post by emphasizing that her departure from the National Rally of Independents does not mean abandoning the people of Figuig. She stated that she is leaving the party without causing harm to anyone and without denying the positive aspects of her experience, but she has come to the conclusion that she has given enough to this experience and can no longer bear another disappointment.
