The raising of the Algerian flag by the JS Kabylie team inside the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, during their match against the Royal Army on Saturday evening, sparked a wide wave of controversy among the attending fans and followers via the media and social media platforms.
A number of social media pioneers considered that the step of raising the Algerian flag carried non-sporting connotations, and some of them went to ridicule it, considering that it reflects confusion in identity and weakness in personality, and even talking about "a complex and doubt in the identity, history and civilization of their country", while others saw that the matter was not spontaneous, but rather falls within the context of direct political messages, and a criticism of linking politics with sports, in reference to what they described as the failure of the Algerian regime to separate the two fields.
