The General Secretariat of the Popular Movement expressed its great concern about the situation in the city of Ksar El Kebir and a number of neighboring towns, due to the floods leaking from a group of valleys following unprecedented rainfall, and the risks it has left on the population and property.
A statement from the party stated that these difficult climatic conditions require comprehensive mobilization and constant vigilance, praising in this context the high instructions given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in order to harness all the necessary human and logistical capabilities to protect the affected population and reduce potential risks. The Popular Movement also expressed its full solidarity with the residents of the affected areas, calling on them to interact positively with the directions and instructions of the competent authorities, in a way that ensures their safety and contributes to facilitating intervention operations. The party praised the efforts made by various stakeholders, foremost of whom are the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, National Security, the Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection, and the territorial authorities, in addition to the Moroccan Red Crescent, medical teams, and civil society فعاليات, in order to save lives and protect property. In the same context, the statement praised the spirit of solidarity shown by citizens, especially the residents of the neighboring areas, through supporting the affected and receiving families who were forced to evacuate their homes threatened by the floods, in a sincere expression of the values of solidarity and cooperation that characterize Moroccan society. The Popular Movement affirmed that the current stage requires giving the highest priority to saving the affected population, sheltering them, and opening the damaged roads and paths, with emphasis on the need to expedite the activation of the natural disaster compensation fund and review the terms of benefiting from it, in addition to accelerating the issuance of the mountain law and establishing a national agency for the mountain areas, as well as evaluating public policies related to managing natural hazards. The party concluded its statement by calling on the population to exercise caution, especially in light of the weather forecasts of new rainfall in the coming days, praying to God to protect Morocco and its people from all ills and tribulations.
