HIBAPRESS reported that the Jerusalem Post newspaper quoted Israeli officials that the possibility of launching a military strike on Iran this week remains low, noting that the United States is going through a sensitive period while studying its next steps.
The Israeli officials explained that the relationship with Washington is strategic and sustainable, but it faces some complications resulting from gaps in the exchange of information and the assessment of intentions, in addition to the limited ability of Israel to immediately influence American decisions. The officials affirmed to the newspaper that if the United States chose the military option against Iran, Israel might only receive short notice. At the same time, American reports reveal extensive military movements to enhance American air defenses in the Middle East region, with the emphasis that the possibility of launching strikes on Iran is not imminent, pending the completion of the deployment of the necessary security reinforcements. The Wall Street Journal had reported that the Pentagon is currently working on deploying advanced defensive systems of the "THAAD" and "Patriot" models in military bases in the region, to provide comprehensive protection for Israel and Arab allies against any potential reactions. In related statements, US President Donald Trump affirmed that his country hopes to reach an agreement with Iran, noting that any failure to do so may clarify the validity of Tehran's warnings of the outbreak of a regional conflict, after Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned on Sunday that any American attack on Iran could lead to a wide escalation in the region.
