Iran denied on Monday that the American president had set a deadline for it in the negotiations on its nuclear file, at a time when Donald Trump is threatening military intervention in the Republic if an agreement is not reached between the two sides.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said in response to a question about Trump's statement about setting a deadline for Iran, during a press conference in which Agence France-Presse participated: "Iran always acts with integrity and seriousness in diplomatic operations, but it never accepts ultimatum. Therefore, this claim cannot be confirmed." Trump had answered in the affirmative on Friday to a question about whether he had set a deadline for Iran, without specifying a time for it, indicating that Iran wanted to reach an agreement on its nuclear file. Trump explained, in his speech to reporters at the White House, that Tehran "is the only one who knows the deadline" he had set for it to reach an agreement.
