The Government Council approved, on Thursday, draft decree No. 2.22.381 related to internal control in ministerial sectors, taking into consideration the raised observations, presented by the Minister of Economy and Finance.
The Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, the official government spokesperson, Mostafa Baitas, explained during a press conference following the weekly meeting of the Council, that this project comes within the framework of accompanying the public sector reform in Morocco, which has received great attention in many of the high royal speeches, which defined the major orientations aimed at improving its efficiency, governance, and raising the quality of its services. This project is also part of accompanying the deep reforms that the Kingdom has undertaken at the constitutional, legislative, and organizational levels in order to consolidate the principles of good governance and to enshrine the rules of transparency, accountability, and responsibility. Baitas said that in the context of this reform path, the draft decree on internal control in ministerial sectors comes as an implementation of the recommendations issued by the Supreme Audit Council and the General Inspectorate of Finance regarding the internal control system, and it aims primarily to improve performance efficiency and enhance the governance of public administrations, in addition to strengthening internal control systems at the level of ministerial sectors.
