HIBAPRESS – MAP
The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development confirmed that the current situation regarding ensuring a regular supply of petroleum materials is under control and stable, thanks to proactive measures taken in coordination with actors in the fuel sector, to provide reserves to cover the needs of the national market, in light of the exceptional climatic conditions that the Kingdom has been witnessing for several weeks.
The Ministry highlighted, in a statement, that it has mobilized, under these conditions that have affected the activity of some of the Kingdom's ports, all public and private actors within the framework of efforts to ensure a regular supply of petroleum materials to overcome the difficulties that prevent the unloading of some ships loaded with energy materials, including petroleum. The same source added that the Ministry is closely monitoring, in coordination with all professionals, the level of the inventory and the cargo of ships inside the ports that are awaiting unloading, where the level of the national inventory is more than 617,000 tons of petroleum materials, which will enable it to meet the needs of the national market while waiting for the unloading of petroleum ships carrying more than an additional million tons of these materials. It continued that an inventory of facilities or fuel sales stations that were temporarily closed at the level of some areas affected by the floods was also conducted to avoid any danger to the environment and the safety of the surroundings, pointing to the importance of continuing permanent coordination and solidarity between the various stakeholders, and strengthening vigilance and follow-up mechanisms to ensure the continuity of supply in all regions of the Kingdom. In this regard, the statement noted that the Ministry is working to continue coordination with all actors in the sector in order to secure supply in these exceptional circumstances, noting that its services are working with local authorities and all local professionals, on a daily follow-up in order to continue providing petroleum materials in the best conditions. The vigilance cell at the Ministry is ensuring the careful and comprehensive follow-up of the situation and the immediate interaction with any situation or development related to supply, in addition to ensuring the continuation at the level of the National Laboratory of Energy and Minerals to facilitate the monitoring of the quality of petroleum materials and enabling ships to unload their cargo of petroleum materials as soon as the climatic conditions improve. The statement pointed out that these proactive measures stem from the Kingdom of Morocco's experience for more than 35 years in analyzing climate change and controlling its effects, adding that the sustainable development sector will communicate on this issue at the appropriate time.
