The highway number 623 linking Lecce and Brindisi, near the town of Tuturano in southern Italy, witnessed a serious security incident represented by an organized attack targeting an armored money transport truck, which left a state of terror among the road users.
According to preliminary data issued by the Italian security services, a group suspected of belonging to organized criminal networks blocked the road by placing a truck and setting it on fire, which forced the money transport truck to stop. After that, a second group of at least eight people intervened, who were on board three cars equipped with blue lights similar to those used by the security services. The same sources added that the incident developed into a clash with the Carabinieri, which was used as a means to camouflage and secure the escape of the other group, while the authorities, until now, have not announced an official toll regarding injuries or arrests. The Italian police have opened an extensive investigation to identify those involved and reveal the circumstances of this attack, at a time when security measures in the area have been strengthened.
