HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Despite its strategic location, the commune of Ain Harrouda is experiencing a situation described as catastrophic, in stark contrast to its belonging to the Casablanca-Settat region, which is the most economically growing region in Morocco.
The absence of structured roads, the lack of basic infrastructure, and the commune's lack of clear development programs are all indicators reflecting a state of chronic marginalization that does not befit an area that is supposed to be within an advanced urban environment. Upon entering Ain Harrouda, the visitor feels as if they have gone back decades, where the manifestations of neglect are evident in all directions, from dilapidated roads to near-nonexistent equipment, in the absence of any urban or developmental vision. This situation becomes even stranger if we know that the commune is only about five kilometers away from the city of Casablanca, and it is also located in the middle of the vital road axis linking it to Mohammedia, which makes its current reality unjustified logically and developmentally. In light of this scene, the residents of Ain Harrouda raise legitimate questions about the parties responsible for this decline and about the role of the elected councils and the supervisory authorities in what the conditions have come to. Voices are also rising demanding the opening of a serious discussion about the reasons for this undeclared exclusion and the launch of urgent programs that restore to the commune the minimum dignity of living and effectively integrate it into the dynamics of regional development instead of leaving it out of coverage.
