HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Local authorities in Casablanca have launched extensive monitoring campaigns targeting commercial stores and markets, just days before the start of Ramadan, to ensure the validity of consumer goods on sale and adherence to health safety standards.
These operations are part of the annual preparations aimed at protecting consumer health, especially with the increased demand for food products during this period. The monitoring operations included a number of grocery stores and food sales outlets, in addition to markets, where the expiry dates, storage conditions, and sources of supply were checked. According to preliminary data, these campaigns resulted in the detection of some violations related to the display of expired or non-compliant goods with the applicable health standards. Local sources confirmed that the authorities will not tolerate violators, as a number of unsuitable-for-consumption materials were seized and destroyed, with legal procedures taken against the violators.
