The office of the Association of Bar Associations in Morocco held an open meeting yesterday, Wednesday, dedicated to discussing the developments in the draft law on the profession, following the meeting that brought together, this morning, the president of the association with the head of the government.
According to a statement issued by the office, the members listened to a detailed report presented by the president of the association on the proceedings of the meeting, which was described as having been characterized by a responsible and frank discussion, addressing the various problems related to the draft law and the current stage. After deliberation on the data presented, the office decided to commend the initiative of the head of government to hold this meeting, and to call for the formation of a joint committee under the supervision of the head of government and in coordination with the office of the association, in order to open a serious and participatory discussion on the draft law on the profession. The office also praised the head of government's willingness to rebuild trust with the association, ensuring the continuity of the legal profession in performing its societal roles, and preserving its independence and constants. The office noted with satisfaction the decision not to refer the draft law to Parliament until the joint committee completes its work, confirming its positive interaction with this initiative by returning to the negotiating table, with the committee holding its first meeting on Friday, February 13, 2026. In a related context, the office saluted the patience and solidarity of the components of the professional body in defense of the independence of the profession and its achievements, reaffirming its firm commitment to protecting and preserving these values, calling for the resumption of professional services starting from Monday, February 16, 2026.
