The Meknes Prefecture has announced the launch of a process to submit applications to replace old trust licenses with new electronic licenses for taxi drivers of the first and second categories. This is within the framework of implementing the directives aimed at modernizing the public service and organizing the urban transport sector.
The document issued by the Economic Affairs and Coordination Department of the General Secretariat of the Prefecture stated that this process will begin on February 16, 2026, and will extend until May 15, 2026, confirming that any application received outside these specified deadlines will be automatically rejected. The Meknes Prefecture has called on all drivers holding trust licenses, and wishing to continue practicing their professional activity, to adhere to the specified deadlines, with the submission of replacement application files to the competent authorities according to the adopted territorial division. Places for submitting applications according to the territorial area The Prefecture has determined the places for submitting renewal files as follows: Urban areas: For drivers holding a trust license in the Meknes municipality, applications are submitted according to the applicant's address. Al-Mashwar Stietia District: For drivers holding a trust license in the Meknes municipality, and residing within the territory of the Al-Mashwar Stietia municipality. The Pasha in charge of coordination: For drivers holding a trust license in the Meknes or Al-Mashwar Stietia municipalities, and residing outside the territory of the two municipalities. The Pashas: For drivers holding a trust license in each of: Ouislane, Toualal, Boufekrane, and Moulay Idriss. The circles: For drivers holding a trust license in the circles of: the outskirts of Meknes, Ain Arma, and Zerhoun. Digitalization of the sector and its organization This process falls within the efforts of the regional authorities to digitize administrative procedures, enhance transparency, and improve the quality of services provided to professionals, in addition to establishing an accurate database of taxi drivers within the territory of the Meknes prefecture. The Prefecture has emphasized the importance of professionals interacting with this procedure, due to its role in organizing the sector and ensuring the continuity of activity within an organized legal framework, calling on everyone to adhere to the applicable conditions and procedures. New conditions for replacing paper trust licenses with electronic licenses The competent authorities have announced the conditions and documents adopted for accepting applications to replace previously issued paper trust licenses with a new electronic license, within the framework of modernizing the taxi driving license system. The document clarified that the acceptance of the replacement application remains conditional on the availability of a set of basic criteria, foremost of which is the availability of the previously issued trust license, in addition to the actual practice of driving a taxi regularly during the year preceding the submission of the application. The persons concerned are also required to meet the conditions of physical and mental fitness, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, in accordance with the legislation and decisions in force in this field, with the need to submit the replacement application file within the specified deadlines. Documents required for the trust license replacement file The trust license replacement application file consists of the following documents: Application for replacing the trust license according to the approved model; A copy of the national identity card; A copy of the driving license; A recent photograph with a white background (size 35×45); A medical certificate issued by the competent regional health authorities; A copy of the valid criminal record bearing the phrase "nothing"; The original trust license to be replaced. Important alert The document emphasized that any application submitted outside the specified deadlines will be rejected, and it also confirmed that all previously issued paper trust licenses will be considered void and not approved as of July 1, 2026.
