The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Safran" Group, Mr. Ross McInnes, confirmed that Morocco is a strategic country for the French group thanks to its modern infrastructure, stable macro-economic framework, and recognized competencies.
Mr. McInnes said, in a speech he delivered during the presentation and launch ceremony of the project to build a factory in Nouaceur to produce aircraft landing systems belonging to the "Safran" group, which was chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, that "our historical presence in the Kingdom, for more than 25 years, reflects our commitment to continue investing in a country that has modern infrastructure, a stable macro-economic framework and recognized competencies." He explained that "Morocco is a strategic country for Safran," stressing that the future factory goes beyond being just an industrial investment, as it reflects the importance that the Kingdom holds for the French group, which owns ten sites in Morocco, located in the heart of the global production system for "Safran," and contributes to its industrial performance within key activities (aircraft engine maintenance, aircraft electrical wiring, engine covers, and engine and landing gear assembly). The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Safran" Group added that this industrial platform, which is among the largest factories in the world for landing equipment and systems, will be built according to the highest technical standards and will be equipped with modern and high-performance production mechanisms, noting that this new site will adopt high-tech methodologies and precise expertise, enabling the group to accompany the increase in production of the "Airbus A320" family of aircraft, and prepare for the next generation of short and medium-range aircraft. He highlighted that this factory will, on the other hand, play a pivotal role in developing an industrial model characterized by immunity and flexibility, and with short industrial paths, given its location near the current "Safran" assembly sites and the European Airbus assembly lines. He continued, saying that this project, which represents an investment of more than 280 million euros, and which will enable the creation of 500 jobs when it begins operating and will rely 100 percent on carbon-free energy, will also enable the attraction of new suppliers to the Moroccan industrial system. After recalling the launch of the construction works of the aircraft engine industrial complex, last October, under the chairmanship of His Majesty the King, Mr. McInnes expressed his happiness "to continue this technological leap with Morocco and embark with the Kingdom on a new adventure: namely, the production of very important systems on board aircraft – landing systems." On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Safran" Group was keen to express his sincere feelings of gratitude for hosting the launch ceremony of the new "Safran" project in Morocco in the halls of the Royal Palace. He pointed out that "this welcome testifies to Your Majesty's commitment to the industrial development of the Kingdom and highlights the unprecedented industrial dynamism that Your Majesty has launched to make the Kingdom a globally competitive industrial platform," reiterating the group's commitment to work hard to make its projects in the Kingdom a model of joint success.
