The Judicial Police of the Marrakech Security Directorate presented on Friday to the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance 31 adult defendants and one minor defendant in connection with the events in Douar Lakdiya, which were marked by clashes, acts of violence, and destruction.
After detailed interrogation, the Public Prosecutor decided to prosecute eight defendants, four Moroccans and four of African nationalities, under arrest and to imprison them in the local prison, setting February 16, 2026, as the date for their first trial session. In contrast, the juvenile judge decided to place the minor defendant in the juvenile wing of the Oudaia prison, setting February 17, 2026, as the date for the start of his first trial sessions. It was also decided to prosecute the remaining defendants on bail, subjecting them to judicial supervision pending the outcome of the trial proceedings. The details of the case go back to a security intervention that followed the outbreak of clashes in Douar Lakdiya, which necessitated the opening of a broad investigation to identify those involved and determine the legal responsibilities against them.
