Local authorities in the city of Kenitra acted yesterday, Friday, following the circulation of a video on social media platforms documenting the suffering of a woman and her children who were homeless in the Al-Khabbazat district, in light of heavy rainfall and a noticeable drop in temperatures.
According to reliable data, an urgent field intervention was coordinated between the local authorities and the security services, resulting in the transfer of the woman and her children to the Bir Anzeran shelter, under appropriate humanitarian conditions, to protect their safety and protect them from the dangers of the harsh cold that the city is experiencing during this period. Although the aforementioned shelter is originally intended to accommodate men without women and minors, the authorities decided, within the framework of the exceptional response and the humanitarian dimension, to provide temporary shelter for the concerned family, until a sustainable social solution is found that takes into account the specificity of their situation. This intervention took place under the direct supervision of the Pasha, the head of the urban district of Al-Maamoura, in the context of activating social vigilance mechanisms and quickly responding to distress calls circulating through the digital space. In the same context, a number of traders and residents of the Al-Khabbazat neighborhood expressed their satisfaction with the speed of the response, considering that this intervention embodies a high sense of social responsibility, especially in the face of cases of vulnerability during difficult climatic conditions, while emphasizing the need to establish a shelter center for women and minors, that ensures more appropriate care for this group. According to the available data, the Bir Anzeran center is under the direct supervision of the local authorities, represented by the head of the third administrative annex, where it is managed according to a precise organizational approach that takes into account safety and discipline conditions, with the adoption of a camera surveillance system that ensures daily tracking of various facilities, and provides a safe environment for beneficiaries in full respect of the applicable regulations. This intervention highlights the importance of strengthening the social structures directed towards vulnerable groups, and developing sustainable solutions capable of responding quickly and effectively to such emergency humanitarian cases.
