The company Fez Al-Jihah for Development announced the launch of a project to rehabilitate the ring road in the city of Fez, one of the main road axes that connects the east and west of the city, within the framework of a program aimed at improving road infrastructure and enhancing the flow of traffic.
The project concerns the road section extending from the Meknes road, at the level of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, passing through the Bensouda area, to the entrance to the highway, which is an axis that experiences heavy traffic and constitutes an essential crossing point for road users inside and outside the urban area. The total cost of this project is about 26.45 billion centimes, distributed over four tranches, with 7.77 billion centimes allocated for the first tranche, while the cost of the second tranche reached 5.75 billion centimes, the third tranche 6.82 billion centimes, while the fourth tranche was allocated a financial envelope of 6.10 billion centimes. This project aims to alleviate the intensity of traffic congestion on the ring road, improve road safety conditions, in addition to keeping pace with the urban expansion and economic dynamism that the city has witnessed in recent years. The program also includes allocating about 38 million dirhams to rebuild and rehabilitate the Mohammed VI Street bridge, which crosses the railway line, with a view to strengthening road connectivity and improving the quality of transportation on this vital axis. The construction period is expected to extend to 12 months, and the project will be implemented according to the approved technical standards, while taking care to reduce the impact of the works on traffic as much as possible. This workshop is expected to contribute to improving the level of road services in the city of Fez, enhancing its urban attractiveness, and responding to the increasing transportation needs of the population and road users.
