The English Premier League announced the continued application of the protocol to support Muslim players during the fasting period.
The decision comes to confirm the league's keenness to provide a fair competitive environment, without affecting the physical readiness of fasting players, led by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, and the new, shining Omar Marmoush, along with a number of Muslim players in other clubs. The protocol allows referees and team captains to agree in advance to stop the match briefly at sunset, so that fasting players can break their fast and consume fluids or quick food supplements. This pause is not random, but is implemented at the first natural stop in play, such as a goal kick or throw-in, ensuring the preservation of the match rhythm and not affecting the technical or competitive aspects.
