The Turkish judiciary accepted the indictment prepared by the Public Prosecution against the Istanbul mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu, who was removed from office, in addition to Huseyin Gun, Necati Ozkan, and Merdan Yanardag, on charges of "espionage."
The 25th Chamber of the Criminal Court in Istanbul finished examining the indictment and prepared a preliminary procedure report regarding the four suspects on charges of "political espionage." The court clarified that there is tangible evidence that strongly proves the commission of the crime related to political or military espionage, and that the suspects have not yet presented their defenses regarding the nature of the charges against them, and that the evidence-gathering procedures have not yet been completed. The court decided to continue the detention of the suspects based on these reasons.
