Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, announced today, Thursday, the allocation of a total financial envelope of three million centimes for the benefit of journalists, in an initiative he described as unprecedented in the path of supporting the human element in the national media sector.
The government official explained that this measure falls within a vision that aims to promote professional justice and motivate the competencies working in journalistic institutions. The minister confirmed that this amount is directed exclusively to activate copyrights for the benefit of journalists, by valuing the news material produced by the journalist editor and considering it intellectual property with added economic value. The minister added that the new approach goes beyond the traditional concept of a fixed monthly salary, and recognizes the creative and editorial role played by the journalist in producing content. Bensaid pointed out that this step falls within a broader workshop to reform the media system, in a way that ensures the improvement of the social and professional conditions of those working in the sector, and enhances the sustainability of journalistic enterprises.
