National coach Said Chiba has signed with FUS Rabat for a period of three years, replacing Jamal Sellami, the Rabat club announced on Tuesday.
“We welcome Said Chiba who has signed a three-year contract with FUS. Said Chiba’s history with FUS is rich in exploits. After defending the team’s colours, Chiba reached the top and today he returns as coach to connect the past with the present and write a new page in the club’s history,” wrote the capital club, which finished in 7th place in the last season of the Botola Pro D1, on its social networks.
The former coach of the U17 national team and former FUS player (from 1988 to 1994) succeeds Sellami who took charge of the Jordanian national team.
Said Chiba, born in 1970, had played for several clubs, including Saudi Al Hilal, French AS Nancy, Spanish Compostela and Greek Aris Salonika. He also wore the colours of the national team from 1991 to 2001 and played in several African Cups in addition to the 1998 World Cup in France.
Champion of Morocco in 2016, six-time winner of the Throne Cup and winner of the CAF Cup in 2010, FUS will try under the leadership of Said Chiba to reconnect with glory and return to the forefront of the national and continental football scene.
